Khatti Meethi recipe

Ingredients

  • Bengal Gram :- 1 cup
  • Beet root :- 100 Gms
  • Groundnut :- 50 Gms
  • Mustard seeds:- 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds:- 11/2 tsp
  • Dried Dates :- 2 nos
  • Jaggery :- 50 Gms
  • Clarified butter:- 1 tsp
  • Tamarind juice:- ½ cup
  • Coriander powder:- 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves :- 6-7 nos
  • Cinnamon :- 1 piece
  • Cloves :- 2 tsp
  • Coriander :- 1 tbsp, chopped
  • Salt :- 1 tsp
  • Asafetida :- a pinch
  • Chili paste :- 2-3 nos

Cooking Instructions

Wash the Dal in water and boil it along with beet root in a pressure cooker.

Once cooked, add salt, jaggery, turmeric powder, coriander powder, dry dates, curry leaves, tamarind juice, chili paste and groundnut. Put it to boil

For the seasoning, Take oil in a pan and heat it. To this add cloves, butter, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon and cloves.

Add all these to the Dal and cook for close to 5 mns

You can garnish it with coriander and serve it hot.
