Stir Fried Lentils recipe


  • 2 cups green lentils ( you could also use Split Bengal Gram(channa) or Split Green Gram (moong) Dals)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp split black gram dal(urad dal)
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  • 4-5 dried red chillies, crushed
  • 8-10 curry Leaves, finely chopped

Cooking Instructions

Bring salted water to a boil.

Add the lentils and cook until soft, around 10 minutes. Drain and let sit for 5 minutes.

In a nonstick pan, heat the oil over medium heat.

Add the mustard seeds and as soon as they start popping add asafoetida, salt, dried red chillies and urad dal. Fry until dal starts to turn golden.

Add the curry leaves, salt and stir.

len11len21Add this mixture to the cooked lentils, toss together and serve warm.
