Sabut Masoor (Whole Red Lentils) recipe


  • Whole red lentils 1/2 kg
  • Salt 1, 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • All spice 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Onion 1
  • Oil 4 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves as required

Cooking Instructions

Add chopped onion, salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds and oil to the masoor, soaked in enough water and pressure cook till done.

Remove and cook on a low flame for 10 minutes.

Sprinkle all spice and garnish with coriander leaves.

Whole green gram (moong) can also be cooked in this manner.
