Radish chutney recipe


  • 1 radish (big size)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 8 red chillies or to taste
  • 3 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • Seasoning ingredients:
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • few curry leaves

Cooking Instructions

Peel and cut the radish into small pieces.

Heat a pan with oil.

Add red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek and saute for few mins.

Remove from the pan and keep aside.

Now add peeled and chopped radish pieces and saute for 5-10 mins.

Remove from heat and keep aside.

In the same pan add chopped onion and chopped tomato.

Saute till the tomatoes become juicy.

Remove from heat and allow them to cool for sometime.

Add the sauteed ingredients except radish and onion, tomato in a mixer jar.

Make a fine powder and then add radish, tamarind pulp, onion, tomato and salt.

Once again grind it to a fine paste or your desired consistency.

Add water if required and adjust salt.

Now heat a pan and do the seasoning and pour the mullangi paste.

Cook on low flame for 5 mins and remove from heat.

Mullangi pachadi is ready to serve.

Serve with plain white rice, dosa, idly, etc...
